Just like any other company in Germany, ALPHA Verteilertechnik GmbH is responsible for occupational safety in its operations. The company has always fulfilled this duty conscientiously and comprehensively and has gained an important insight in the process: Communication is an essential element in creating a high level of safety awareness and improving the safety culture. For this reason, ALPHA Verteilertechnik GmbH decided to develop a Big Picture, which brings the most important aspects of occupational health and safety in the company to the forefront in a visual form.
Customer
ALPHA Verteilertechnik GmbH has been successfully active in the field of metal technology for decades. The main focus of the company, headquartered in Cham (Bavaria), includes the production of standardised installation and energy distribution boards as well as customised, individual system cabinets for industry. In addition, ALPHA also develops and manufactures customised solutions. In total, the company employs more than 230 people.
Task
As a globally active company, ALPHA Verteilertechnik GmbH faces up to its social responsibility. The company has therefore not only had its quality and environmental management certified according to internationally standardised norms, but also its occupational health and safety. The company regularly reviews its occupational health and safety measures and is always working to further improve them.
In the summer of 2022, APLHA Verteilertechnik GmbH approached BIG PICTURY with the wish to develop a Big Picture that would sensitise the company’s employees to the topic of occupational health and safety and make all relevant aspects in the company quickly comprehensible at a glance. The Big Picture was to be displayed in several places on the shop floor of ALPHA Verteilertechnik GmbH and also presented to the employees as an interactive ClickPicture via the intranet.
Implementation
In close coordination with ALPHA Verteilertechnik GmbH, BIG PICTURY created a custom-fit big picture on the topic of “occupational health and safety” within a very short time (workload on the client’s side: 2 days). Not only were the most important company-specific processes, potential hazards and protective measures in the production and logistics areas visualised, but also other occupational health and safety-relevant topics from the office and organisational areas. In addition, external factors of occupational health and safety (such as legal and trade association requirements) were also visualised in a quick and easy-to-understand way. In the digital version, as a ClickPicture, the Big Picture was provided with additional click points that open as soon as the viewer clicks on the desired area. The text fields behind the dots contain further information on the individual topics.
